According to a story by Aaron W-Tan, Channel NewsAsia, education officials are adding personnel resources to mainstream schools in Singapore (SN) so that they will be more capable of addressing the needs of students with disabilities, including students with dyslexia. Students apparently must apply for a position in one of the schools that provide these special education services.

Full funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is again before the US Congress. Pretty much bi-annually since the landmark law was passed over 30 years ago, there have been efforts to make the US federal government live up to its promise to fund 40% of the special education costs. Hill Center recognized
The Hill Center, a North Carolina (US) program for students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders that predicates its efforts on the Orton-Gillingham model, has gotten positive press in a story headlined “Reading program produces: The pilot effort has helped Durham elementary schoolers become proficient” by Samiha Khanna of the Raleigh (NC, US) News and Observer. Ms. Khanna’s story describes how the Hill Center’s efforts have aided students who attend the center as well as those in local schools.
