LD cruise

In an article headlined “Set sail from Port to raise funds for learning disabilities: Charity cruise June 8 aboard the Empire Sandy,” Mike Zettel reports on an effort by the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO; Ontario, CA) to support individuals with Learning Disabilities. Mr. Zettel reported that funds raised from the cruise will be used to defer registration costs for a new program aimed at early intervention with children in kindergarten; the program is called “Fun with Fundamentals.”

Mr. Zettel and his informants were very good about recognizing organizations and companies that are contributing to the effort: Joseph’s Estate Wines, Holiday Inn, St. Paul Street United Church, Nautica Adventures, Kwik Kopy (there’s too many franchises to link), and Reid Graphic Design (not sure of link).

There are some advocacy organizations that do a stellar job of raises funds (and awareness along the way). Probably the foremost among them in the US is the National Center on Learning Disabilities.
